Thomas "Tom" S. Albanesi, Jr., is Fox Chase Cancer Center's Chief Financial Officer.
He joined Fox Chase in April 2011 from West Penn Allegheny Health System, a group of six hospitals and over ten thousand employees, where he served for nearly fifteen years in a variety of roles. Most recently, as Vice President for Corporate Finance and Corporate Controller, he oversaw all financial operations for the health system, with nearly$1.6 billion in operating revenue. Prior to taking on this role, he served as Treasurer and was successful in leading a team that issued $753 million in tax-exempt bonds, the largest non-investment grade health care issue in U.S. history. This bond offering reduced the interest rate on the organization's debt by almost half, led to a cash flow savings of over $136 million, and made $135 million available for capital needs.
Albanesi's roles prior to joining West Penn Allegheny — with Med3000, Wexford Health Sources, and Ernst & Young — have given him breadth and depth in his knowledge of healthcare finances. A graduate of Duquesne University, he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and has served as president and director of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
