Hematology Nurse Navigator
While I am a relatively new addition to the Fox Chase Cancer Center team, I have extensive experience working with oncology patients in the community setting over the last 25 years. I have spent much of my career in various roles in Hospice and Palliative Care. I am passionate about patient advocacy, quality of life and assisting patients by providing both support and education in making the best informed decisions about their desire for treatment. I believe Knowledge is power and can help take some of the scariness out of a new cancer diagnosis, as well as providing the necessary ammunition to fight the disease! Nursing navigation is the perfect opportunity to provide support, education and decrease barriers for patients and their families to facilitate optimal care in a timely manner. My most recent role before coming to Fox chase has been as Breast cancer navigator for a local community based Hospital. I have worked in the hospital setting early in my career, but spent much of my time providing care in patients home as well as the outpatient setting.
I have always seen it as a great privilege to care for individuals in their homes and it has been such a gift to me on a personal level as well. I have been humbled by the love and devotion I have been privileged to experience as family/friends rally around their loved ones to help them through “the cancer journey”. I have also been on “the other side of the bed” as a family member and friend to several of my loved ones that have experienced the crisis of cancer in their lives. I try to always remember those experiences to help me relate to what patients and their families are going through at each stage of a cancer journey.
I am very excited and committed to nursing navigation for the patients seeking help here at Fox Chase with their Hematologic malignancies. I believe that it takes a committed team to provide the best care for any patient; and we can do more when we work toward the united goal of providing the best individualized quality driven, evidenced based care for all of the patients we care for. I am extremely honored to be working with some of the best world class team of experts in the field of hematology and bone marrow transplantation here at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
