This event centered around a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Mary Daly, chair of Fox Chase's Department of Clinical Genetics, and featuring local attorney and ovarian cancer survivor Emily Beck, as well as authors Cathy Bueti (Breastless in the City) and Kerri Conner (My Mommy Has Breast Cancer But She is OK!).

  • A catered reception and tours of the Women's Cancer Center followed the panel discussion at 4PM.
  • A representative from Joseph Fox Bookshop was on hand to facilitate book sales and signings by the authors.

About Jane Pepper

Jane Pepper, a longtime member of the Fox Chase Cancer Center Board of Directors, served as President of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society from 1981 until this past July. During her tenure, the renowned Philadelphia Flower Show achieved international stature and is now known as the Philadelphia International Flower Show, the largest and most prestigious indoor flower show in the world. Under her guidance, the PHS became a leading voice in regional greening initiatives.

Prior to her time at PHS, Jane was Horticulturist at Haverford College. She holds a Master of Science degree in Public Horticulture Administration from the Longwood Graduate Program and a Bachelor of Science degree in Plant Science from the University of Delaware. She also has an Associate of Science degree in Landscape Design from Temple University.

In 1999 she led the effort to establish the G. Willing Pepper Chair in Cancer Research, now held by Robert G. Uzzo, M.D., FACS, Chair of the Department of Surgery at Fox Chase. This chair honors G. Willing "Wing" Pepper (1909-2001), former president of Scott Paper Company, a noted Philadelphia philanthropist, and Fox Chase board member from 1973 to 1987. The chair was established to acknowledge and support an outstanding leader in the field of cancer research who represents the highest standards of excellence.
