A hospitalist is a physician trained in internal medicine who specializes in treating hospitalized patients.  At Fox Chase, our hospitalists have experience managing the medical issues and complications that are unique to cancer patients throughout various phases of treatment.

The hospitalist service enhances the continuum of care by providing an additional level of support for patients who may be dealing with diseases in addition to cancer or suffering from complications of cancer or cancer treatments. For patients admitted to the Medicine inpatient service, hospitalists serve as their overall care coordinator. In addition, the hospitalist service operates the Direct Referral Unit that evaluates and treats our patients with urgent medical issues.
