Public Transportation

Center City Philadelphia is connected by stations at Market East (8th and Market), Suburban Station (15th and Market), and 30th Street (30th and Market), from the Ryers station at 749 Cottman Avenue. The Roosevelt Mall, on Cottman Avenue, can be reached by bus. If you have a car, the shopping possibilities are almost endless. There are several large malls within driving distance including Willow Grove, Franklin Mills, and King of Prussia (the largest mall on the East Coast).

Food

There are a number of large grocery store chains, as well as smaller convenience stores, in close proximity to the Center.

Furniture

There are many local furniture stores, plus home accessories and kitchenware stores in the many nearby malls. Also, there are often notices around the Center from staff members who want to sell furniture. This is by far the best way to find affordable furniture. In the summer, also look in local newspapers for notices about Yard Sales. The Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper Sunday edition is full of advertisements for shops and sales. This newspaper can be a useful source of information.

Banks

There are several banks in the vicinity of the Center. Some banks offer free checking to Fox Chase staff members. The American Heritage Federal Credit Union also offers checking accounts to Fox Chase staff members. The Credit Union visits the Center on a monthly basis. Please check the Human Resources bulletin board for locations and dates.

For your convenience, an ATM machine is located at the entrance to the hospital located on level 5 of the parking garage. This machine is for withdrawals only; no deposits will be accepted.

Stamps

The nearest post offices to the Center are on Central Avenue, Rising Sun Avenue and the Roosevelt Mall. Stamps can also be obtained from the reception desk in the Reimann building between 1-2 p.m.

Order stamps online or find a Post Office at US Post Office.

Meals and Snacks

Meals and snacks available in the cafeteria (located in the Center Building), and at the Coffee Cart (located in the Prevention Pavilion) open Monday through Friday. The Terrace Cafe, behind the Outpatient entrance, is open seven days a week.
