- Head and Neck
- Tobacco Related Cancers
Medical conferences, interactive workshops and symposia are initiating scientific directions, but also have been a valuable component in the development of US/Russian relations. Presentations in Russia are conducted by the most experienced professionals and are designed to engage scientists in areas of mutual collaboration. ARCA national symposia involve Russian physicians from all regions of the Russian Federation, former Russian Republics as well as European countries, providing a positive impact on improved oncology services throughout the entire country and the region. American participants have a unique opportunity to work with various populations within Russia and collaborate with highly motivated and trained Russian physicians and researchers to develop joint research studies.
ARCA Onco Urology Program
The urologic oncologist is charged with managing the 3 of the top 10 most common human malignancies. Not only is malignancy of the prostate gland the most common cancer in American and Russian men and is the second most common cause of male cancer death, but management of prostate, kidney, and bladder cancers -- not to mention the other diseases faced by these specialists -- requires some of the most nuanced medical and surgical expertise. As such, American Russian Cancer Alliance (ARCA) participants have teamed up to relieve the burden of urologic malignant disease for populations of both countries.
Most recently, a major ARCA event took place in Yekaterinburg, Russia on May 26-27, 2011, click here. This joint Russian-American 2-day conference organized by Professor Alexander Zyryanov, MD from Ural Regional Hospital #1 was titled "Actual Questions in Oncourology" and integrated a master-class titled "Surgery of the Prostate and Renal Cancer." The list of participants included not only leading urologic oncologists from Central, Ural, Siberian and Far East districts of Russia, but also American specialists from the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia: Professor Richard Greenberg, MD and Assistant Professor Alexander Kutikov, MD.
